"As far back as I can remember, I've either worked or volunteered with organizations where I can help others. It doesn't only make me feel good, but gives me purpose and is truly fulfilling."
My mom, sister and I moved to the United States when I was nine years old. Once here we moved around quite a bit. Not until my husband and I bought our "forever" home, met our neighbors and got involved with local organizations and our children’s school, did I realize that as a child I did not have a sense of belonging to a community.
Our home and the village my husband, my children and I have built day-by-day around our friends and neighbors is truly the foundation of our happiness and well-being. From neighbors helping dig each other out every snowfall to the daily practices that tireless parents plan and organize for their kids, I am genuinely appreciative.
I am the fortunate one who gets to help friends, and sometimes strangers who become friends buy their forever home and start them on their journey to build their foundation and their village....just as my husband, our children and I have done.
I was born in Bombay, India and am an alumnus of Virginia Tech. I live in Bethesda with my husband and our children. I am an avid runner, am getting back into yoga and am a ferocious reader. I find joy in being outdoors, whether it’s hiking or gardening. Spending meaningful time with our friends is high on my priority and brings me happiness and fulfillment. My family and I enjoy running in local races, giving back to the community by volunteering at retirement homes or holding bake sales for charitable organizations, and we love vacationing, especially at the beach.
